Multi-Skilled Maintenance Technician

We’re looking for pro-active, passionate and dedicated Maintenance Technicians from an Electrical, Mechanical or Multi-Skilled background to join our newly created day based Planned Maintenance team within our Engineering Department. Our engineering strategy is to ensure a planned pro-active maintenance approach for our production lines with reduced reactive interventions and we’re investing in building a skilled team to support this strategy. Who are we looking for?
Previous experience within the maintenance department of a an FMCG plant, ideally in a food/drink production environment
Undertaken planned maintenance and lubrication work on a plant in accordance with a preventive maintenance schedule, including fault diagnosis and identification of appropriate solutions, and liaised with stores personnel regarding spare parts requirements
Worked collaboratively with shift engineering team and external contractors to complete schedule of work and support reactive maintenance requirements
Ownership of machine and plant rectification processes to ensure a satisfactory conclusion which is effectively communicated to the broader engineering team and plant management and the area or workshop is left in a clean and safe condition in accordance with legislative requirements
Proficiency with PC systems and software, department including mechanical, electrical control systems
Experienced in regularly liaising with production supervisors or shift managers and closely monitoring production programmes, in order to help in managing maintenance activities and foreseeing possible problems, enabling early action to be taken in order to minimize downtime and lead to improvements
Previously utilised the principles of lean manufacturing using Root Cause Analysis to determine the underlying reasons behind problems and failures
Identified opportunities and implemented solutions to improve manufacturing efficiency, equipment reliability, product quality, with consideration with regards to health and safety, food safety and environment
Ensure that all work is carried out to required safety and other required standards, in line with company policies and procedures and legislative requirements.
Qualifications / Competencies:
4 year apprenticeship training. Qualified to City and guilds ONC or HNC or equivalent NVQ.
Competent user of Computer Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), preferably SAP
Working knowledge of ISO9001/ 14001 / 18001 and demonstrable compliance of quality systems and safe system of work and practices
Effective communicator, decisive, pro-active and self-motivated individual who works well under pressure
Demonstrable commitment to professional development across electrical and mechanical disciplines with a willingness to undertake multi-skilled training when required
